Why is there a necessity for a fourth pole?
Most circuits have three phases. On some, usually smaller, systems, it is desired to break the neutral wire as well as the three “live” phases. Danfoss contactors provide this option up to and including CI 15.
Do Danfoss products comply with RoHS directive (Restriction of Hazardous Substances)?
Yes, all declarations of conformity, including RoHS and WEEE, can be found in our internet product catalogue. Look up the product of your interest and find the relevant document either under the Literature link or the Approvals & Certificates link.

How can I connect a CTI circuit breaker with a CI contactor?
To connect CTI and CI we recommend module CTC:
CTC 25-15: Connection module between CTI 25M-MB and CI 6-15 contactors.
CTC 25-30: Connection module between CTI 25M-MB and CI 16-30 contactors.
I'm looking for a Danfoss code number and I have not found it in any catalogues?

What about the fact that the uncontrolled phase always is “live” on the motor terminal box?
Even with the semiconductor switched off, it is possible to measure a voltage on the motor terminals. Therefore it would not make any difference if all three phases had been switched off. The situation is the same with all solid-state controllers and frequency converters. In order to work on the motor terminals, the control device (soft starter or contactor) must be switched off anyway, for example with a circuit breaker type CTI. This is also relevant for a contactor, even though the mains are isolated

What is the maximum current the CTI can interrupt?
All data is printed on the circuit breaker, including maxiumum breaking capacity. For details, please refer to the relevant technical brochure, available for download in our web product catalogue.
What is difference between Icu and Ics marked on circuit breakers?
Icu is the ultimate short circuit breaking capacity in kA specified by manufacturer that circuit breaker can handle under circumstances specified in EN 60947-2, whilst Ics is the rated service short circuit breaking capacity in kA specified by manufacturer that circuit breaker can handle under circumstances specified in EN 60947-2.
Are CTI 15 equal to CTI 25 in regard to electrical parameters?
The products have the same dimensions, accessories and most of the electrical parameters. Main differences CTI 15 vs CTI 25 are: No reset function, lower short-circuit breaking capacity and no marine approval available. For details, please see the technical brochure, available for download in our web product catalogue.
Can the CTI 15 circuit breaker operate at ambient temperature over 60 °C?
Yes but only up to 70°C, and 15% current reduction of the upper rated current must be considered.
Where can I find some technical information about your products?

Does a thermal overload relay provide full protection of the motor?
A thermal overload relay equipped with bimetals is a relatively small, yet reliable appliance to protect electrical motors against:
–mechanical overload,
–asymmetrical operation,
–phase failure.
To provide protection against short circuit current you should use fuses.
For full protection of the motor, we recommend CTI circuit breakers.
Can a BBT 25 be used instead of CTT 25?
CTT 25 (047B3076) is dedicated for CTI 15 and BBT 25 (047B3259) is dedicated for CTI 25M-MB and they have different distance between terminals so they cannot be used interchangeably.
Can you recommend a replacement for a CTI 25 circuit breaker?
CTI 25 is obsolete product. Instead, we recommend the CTI 15, available with a wide variety of accessories.
